Berkley Democratic Club Meeting Topic: Round Table discussion of the various presidential candidates
This should be a fun meeting - I hope to see you there.
You will be able to vote for the Democratic Presidential Candidate of your choice in one of three ways in 2004. You may request an absentee ballot from the Michigan Democratic Party; you may cast your vote over the Internet; or you may attend the Presidential Caucus in Berkley. If you decide to vote by absentee ballot or over the Internet, you must submit an application to the Michigan Democratic Party. If you intend to vote at the Caucus, you will report to the Berkley Community Center on Saturday, February 7, 2004, between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm. Vote by mail applications may be obtained by these methods:
You will receive a vote by ballot which you will return to the Michigan Democratic Party Office in Lansing. You may not turn in that ballot at the local caucus. You will be advised regarding the deadline for returning the ballot and voting over the Internet. In that mailing you will also receive instructions for voting over the Internet. Applications must be returned to MDP by January 31, 2004 at 6:00pm. If you fail to meet this requirement your request will be denied. Anyone who votes by mail may not vote at the caucus. Everyone who votes must publicly declare him or herself as a DEMOCRAT. The Democratic Presidential Caucus Site for Berkley Residents will be the Berkley Community Center, 2200 Robina. Bring your voter registration card or some other piece of ID and report between 10:00am and 4:00pm. The Presidential Caucus format differs from procedures used in the past. We have no idea of the number of people who will come to Berkley's caucus site on Saturday, February 7th to cast their ballots. Our active club members have signed up to work on that day. If you have not yet volunteered and are willing to help, please call Marilyn Stephan.
The Club Membership Enrollment Begins on February 1, 2004. On February 26, 2004, the Berkley Democratic Club will have its Annual Meeting where officers are elected. Our by-laws require that only members in good standing may participate by running for club office and/or vote for candidates. In order to simplify the process of enrolling members, the Secretary/Treasurer will have a station at the February 7, 2004 Caucus Site to receive memberships. We hope that each and every person who comes to vote will join our club. CASH OR CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Dues money is used to pay for the programs such as this newsletter, which costs $25.85 per issue to print and mail. The caucus site rental of $50.00 is a new expense to the club's budget. Dues are:
