9th District Chair's Monthly Report, Jan 2010
By Tim Greimel, Chair, 9th Congressional District Democratic Party
Saturday, January 16, 2009
Happy New Year! We are now officially in the election year of 2010 and need all hands on deck to ensure the return of Congressman Gary Peters to Washington in November!
Congressman Peters' is Credited for Independent Thinking
The historically conservative Oakland Press rang in the New Year with a complimentary editorial about Congressman Peters on January 3. The editorial observed:
"Peters campaigned on his fiscal acumen and promised to support small business. So far, he appears to be keeping those promises, as difficult as it is with pressure from his fellow Congressman (sic) in Washington and the constant barrage of criticism from Republicans at home. ... [L]et’s give him credit and kudos for some independent thinking. We certainly need that from all of our representatives, not only in Washington, but in Lansing too."

Charity Event was Huge Success
On December 12, dozens of 9th District volunteers worked at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac helping Oakland County Lighthouse sort and wrap toys and gifts for low-income children. Our assistance was appreciated by Lighthouse, and we all had a great time!
Participate in Local Events on Martin Luther King Day
As Democrats, we are committed to social and economic justice. This Monday is Martin Luther King Day, an event dedicated to both. Instead of thinking of MLK Day as a holiday, let's view it as a Day of Action.
There are many events occurring in and around the 9th Congressional District. I encourage you to attend one or more of the events! To find an event in your community, click on these links:
