Celebrate the genius of the American worker

As we spend time with friends and family this Labor Day weekend, it is important to acknowledge the tremendous contribution by the American worker towards the economy and our way of life.

American workers have continually made the best and most innovative products in the world, and given a level playing field we can compete with anyone. That is why I am working so hard to ensure that we have fair trade policies and end tax breaks that reward companies that outsource our jobs to places like China and Mexico.

I am fighting to make sure we build the next generation of vehicles right here in Michigan. I want to reward companies that hire new workers so America can continue to be the center of innovation and creativity in the world and also create new high paying jobs right here at home.

America was built into a great country by Americans who worked harder and smarter than anyone else in the world. As you enjoy the holiday weekend this Labor Day, I want you to know that I will be working just as hard for you, as you are for this country, because the people of Michigan deserve nothing less.
