Continuing the Fight to Move Our Country Forward

By U.S. Representative Gary Peters

This week, I took the oath of office to serve a second term as Michigan’s Congressman from the 9th District. While there was much more pomp and circumstance two years ago when I was a sworn in as a freshman, the occasion was no less moving for me and Colleen this week.

As I stood with my right hand raised, I reflected with deep gratitude on all who helped me to victory last November. For your support, friendship and steadfast encouragement during a difficult race, I will always be grateful.

While I regret that I return to Congress now as a member of the minority, I am hopeful that even this change will bring new opportunities.

There will be challenges ahead, to be sure. Most critically, Michigan’s economy is still struggling. Our families and communities have not yet felt the warm winds of economic growth that have begun to stir elsewhere. And, as a nation, we cannot afford to turn back the clock on progress we have made over the last two years.

I look forward to continuing the fight to move our country forward in this Congress and upholding the values you and I share for many more years to come in Washington.

I hope you will be with me on the journey. I’ll be in touch from time-to-time, and I invite you to do the same.

Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year,
Gary
