MDP Endorsement Convention - Saturday, April 17

On February 27, the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee approved the Michigan Democratic Party's Endorsement Convention for April 17th. This Convention is the first of its kind in Michigan and should give our Democratic candidates an advantage in the upcoming election.

Agenda for the event at Cobo Center, Detroit:

  • Registration, 8am - 1pm, Macomb Hall (bring your MDP card!)
  • Constituency Caucus Meetings, 8am - 10am, Various locations
  • 9th District Caucus, 10am - 11am, Rooms D3-16-18
  • Lunch Break, 11am - 1pm
  • Convention Convenes, 1pm, Macomb Hall
  • Convention Adjourns, 3pm

At the Endorsement Convention, we will endorse a candidate for Attorney General and for Secretary of State - months ahead of when they will be officially nominated in August. This will help our candidates in their campaign efforts by giving them more time to meet voters, travel throughout the state, and raise more money to defeat Republicans in the general election in November.

Join us on April 17th to endorse our candidates at what is sure to be an exciting weekend for Democrats.

We will begin the weekend with the Endorsement Convention on Saturday morning, April 17th, at Cobo Hall in Detroit. You'll be able to meet the candidates, hear their plans for Michigan, and vote on who you feel should receive our endorsement.

We have a great group of candidates running for both Attorney General and Secretary of State.

  • For Attorney General, our field includes Wayne State Board of Governors Chair Richard Bernstein and Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.
  • For Secretary of State, our two candidates are Wayne State University Law Professor Jocelyn Benson and Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey.

All four of these candidates have exceptional track records and experience, and would be an excellent choice to represent our Party in November.

The Convention will conclude that afternoon and be followed in the evening by our Annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner - a rich tradition for the Michigan Democratic Party and for Democrats throughout the state.

This is an exciting time for Democrats and we want you to be a part of it. Come endorse the next Attorney General and Secretary of State in Michigan. Anyone who is a precinct delegate, elected official, candidate for public office, or a member of the Michigan Democratic Party is eligible to vote.

If you are not a member, you can join today. Per Party rules, you must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party 30 days in advance of the Convention in order to vote. That means the deadline is March 19th so don't delay.

Help us make history. Together we can show the voters of Michigan that the Democrats have the solutions to move our state forward. The future of Michigan is at stake. We hope you will be a part of this exciting process. See you in April!

Sincerely,

Mark Brewer
Chair, Michigan Democratic Party
