Dorothy Mirk, March 26, 1923 - September 17, 2010

It is with profound regret that we share the news of the passing of Dorothy Mirk, age 87. Dorothy was born in Chicago, IL but was a resident of Berkley for 62 years.

She is survived by her children, Doreen Miller of Boulder, CO, Peter (Cheryl) of Troy, Kaaren (Gary Robbins) of New Delhi, India, Thomas (Carol) of Mt. Pleasant, Douglas of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Michael, Danielle, Sean, Krista, Kyle, Sara, Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Ella; brothers Arthur Brne of Lisle, IL, James (Peggy) Brne of Huntley, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband James P. Mirk.

She was a woman of devout faith and an active member at Greenfield Presbyterian Church for 62 years. Dorothy held several church leadership roles; Serving as Deacon, Elder, on the Women’s Association, Christain Education Chair, and was most recently extremely active on the Mission Committee.

Dorothy served in various positions at County and Congressional District levels as well as on State Central. For a quarter of a century she served as the faithful secretary of the Berkley Democratic Club and as a Precinct Delegate for many years. She also served in many volunteer roles on committees in the City of Berkley.

In recent years she battled illness with quiet resignation and managed a smile for others despite her great discomfort.

Now she has joined her beloved Jim. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow.

Rev. Peter Moore will officiate the service at the Greenfield Presbyterian Church, 2312 Greenfield Rd., Berkley 48072.
